Microsoft Reader
The Microsoft Reader platform works with a specialized file called a LIT, which is a HTML-based file structured on Open E-book XML. Microsoft has developed Reader software for desktops, Pocket-PCs, and Tablets that allows for greater flexibilty and options when reading e-books. LIT files are relatively small so they can be easily stored, transported, and accessed on your mobile device.
The Scribe Publishing System makes it easy to export content from Quark or InDesign for transformation to LIT. High-resolution graphics are converted to HTML-compliant files and cover images are sized to work with the LIT format. Cascading Style Sheets are used to mimic the design and layout of the print version of book; tables and lists are rendered clearly and accurately. The Microsoft Reader platform gives authors and publishers another option in the effort to reach potential customers.
