Copyediting

Scribe is proud of our stellar record of conforming to exacting specifications and meeting strict deadlines of our clients. When we edit a manuscript for style, or copyedit the details of spelling, grammar, syntax, and punctuation, we aim for perfection.

Scribe offers the following copyediting services:

• Mechanical Editing—Check for punctuation, spelling, capitalization errors, and paragraph style consistency. Our standards for spelling and style are Merriam Webster's Collegiate Dictionary, and The Chicago Manual of Style, respectively. However, we defer to the publisher's preferred standards for spelling and style.
• Light Copyediting—Check for correct word usage, sentence completion, subject/verb agreement, pronoun/antecedent agreement, and accuracy of links between notations and footnotes.
• Medium Copyediting—Beyond light copyediting, we check sentence structure and/or sentence order within paragraphs; add/change paragraph breaks.
• Heavy Copyediting—Beyond light and medium copyediting, we add transitional sentences and reorganize paragraphs within chapters; add section headers where necessary. This includes multilingual text copyediting.
