Amazon Kindle
Amazon has developed the new Kindle, a wireless reading device exclusively for e-books. It runs on an OEB platform and does not require syncing to a computer. Kindle holds over 200 e-books that can be purchased through the Amazon Web site.
Key Features and Advantages
- Paper-Like Screen— The six inch monitor and high resolution makes Kindle easy to read. There is no glare and no backlight.
- Wireless Access — Whispernet enables the user to search, discover, download, and read content from anywhere, with a stronger signal than WiFi. The wireless is already set up and paid for by Amazon.
- Lightweight, Ergonomic Design — Weighs 10.3 ounces, and fits easily in one hand. Easy navigation and page turning options allow the user to read comfortably.
- Search Feature — Use the full keyboard to type in any word or phrase and Kindle will find every occurence in your library and on recently visited Web sites.
- Bookmarks and Annotations — Add your own annotations to text, and edit or delete them easily. Highlight and clip key passages, and bookmark pages for future use. Upon startup, Kindle always opens to the last page you read.
- Dictionary and Reference — Look up words in the built-in dictionary as you read, or find out more information on Wikipedia.
- Long Battery Life — Lasts up to two days with wireless, or a week without it. Fully recharges in two hours.
