Macmillan is the name for a group of publishing companies in the United States held by Verlagsgruppe Georg von Holtzbrinck, which is based in Stuttgart, Germany. Their American publishers include W. H. Freeman and Worth Publishers, Palgrave Macmillan, Bedford/St. Martin’s, St. Martin’s Press, and Bedford Freeman & Worth Publishing Group. Though a distinctive conglomerate of leading publishing imprints, their focus is on trade, college and academic titles, and magazines and journals.
