Editor
Scribe (www.scribenet.com) is currently seeking to hire an editor in our Philadelphia or Florida office. The editor will be responsible for composing and editing manuscripts to make sure a manuscript is written accurately and communicates clearly. This involves achieving structural consistency and conformity to style, correctness of punctuation and treatment of numbers, consistency between text, tables, and illustrations, citation format (bibliographies and notes), and other matters of style, as well as correct grammar, syntax, and usage at the most basic level.
- Composition (applying structure to documents)
- Copyediting
- Tagging using HTML, XML and regular expression
- Proofreading
- Proficient in computer use
- Possess good organization skills, systematic editorial and quality procedures
- Able to copyedit using track changes and other Word editing tools
- Fully versed in Chicago Manual of Style, knowledge of other style guides is helpful
- Knowledge of HTML, XML and regular expression is preferred
Candidates must be focused, highly organized, able to work independently, pay attention to detail, and manage time. It is necessary that he demonstrates a thorough mastery of the English language (grammar, syntax, vocabulary), be able to type accurately and possess good knowledge of Microsoft Word. Scribe is a paper free environment, so any candidate must be fully comfortable making exclusive use of computers.
