Composition Assistant
Scribe is currently seeking to hire 5 Composition Assistants. We plan to hire two (2) to work in our Allentown office, the remaining to work in our Dania office. This is an entry level position intended to lead to other positions at Scribe. Initially, the employee will be responsible for data conversion, document scanning, data entry and project-related administrative work. Employee also will be responsible for naming, tracking and transferring electronic files, and for adhering to our production management system. Once these skills are attained, additional responsibilities (and compensation) will follow.
- Composition (applying structure to documents)
- Simple HTML-tagging
- Data Conversion
- OCR and image scanning
- Data Entry
- Copyediting
- Typesetting
- XML
Training will be provided for all of the above.
Candidates must be focused, highly organized, able to work independently, pay attention to detail, and manage time. It is necessary that they demonstrate a thorough mastery of the English language (grammar, syntax, vocabulary), be able to type accurately and possess good knowledge of a word processor (e.g., Microsoft WORD) and a computer operating system (e.g., Windows XP). Knowledge of a second language is preferred.
Allentown applicants, please note the following. The first two weeks of training will be conducted in the Philadelphia office. You will be expected to work from the Philadelphia office during those days.
